If you’ve never made applesauce before you must try this recipe. Applesauce should be made out of just that, apples. Most products you find in the store have added sugar and water. The water content of apples is about 80% so adding more water is unnecessary and will only dilute the flavor. Depending on the sweetness of the apples you may or may not want to add more sugar to the recipe. I prefer honey as a sweetener. It has a fresh, natural flavor and 1 to 2 tablespoons is all you need. My choice of apple is Granny Smith. These are slightly tart but cook down easily and make an amazingly tasty applesauce. Add a little lemon juice, cinnamon and salt and cook down for the best applesauce you will ever taste. Nothing in a jar can compare.
